Chat Overview

Live chat is built into the UserSignal widget. Your users can start a conversation without leaving your app, and you reply from the admin dashboard.

How it works

  1. Users click the chat option in the widget's resource center
  2. They type a message and hit send — a conversation is created automatically
  3. You see the conversation in Chat in the admin dashboard
  4. Reply in real-time — messages appear instantly via WebSocket

  • Image sharing — users and admins can upload images or paste screenshots from clipboard
  • Emoji picker — searchable emoji picker with categories
  • User context — see name, email, browser, OS, and custom properties in the sidebar
  • Unread badges — users see a badge count on the widget when they have unread replies
  • Conversation management — close resolved conversations
